Prolonged Exposure Therapy

Prolonged Exposure Therapy also known as “PE” is an evidenced-based manualized treatment for individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It is a theoretically-based treatment for chronic PTSD and related depression, anxiety, and anger. The goal of PE therapy is to decrease avoidance and the symptoms of PTSD to help survivors of trauma reclaim their life and activities through education, exposure activities, and therapeutic emotional processing. This is accomplished through a series of in vivo and imaginal exposure exercises, and screening tools.
